Canada Post recorded a loss before tax of $490 million in 2021, as higher costs partially offset revenue growth across all lines of business. The Canada Post segment's loss improved from a loss before tax of $779 million in 2020.

OTTAWA – Canada Post recorded a loss before tax of $779 million in 2020, even while delivering record-high Domestic Parcels volumes. The postal service had reported a year-to-date $709 million loss before tax in the third quarter of 2020.

Canada Post is reporting a loss before tax of $153 million for 2019. While it remains the country’s leader in e-commerce delivery, its Parcels business grew at a slower pace in 2019 as the competition in e-commerce delivery intensified.

Canada Post’s commitment to help Canadian businesses grow through e-commerce led to strong growth in the Parcels line of business in 2016.

Solid efforts across the organization to improve service and deliver greater convenience for Canadian online shoppers led to unprecedented growth in the Parcels line of business in 2015. This growth contributed to a profit before tax of $63 million for the Canada Post segment in 2015, compared to a profit before tax of $194 million in 2014.
